Aesop Shinjuku

Amid the densely packed buildings, tight alleys, and neon signs of Tokyo’s Shinjuku district, a generously proportioned street-level store provides a retreat. Designed with Case-Real, the space addresses the area’s frenetically contemporary yet nostalgic atmosphere. Rough plaster walls bring warmth and soften edges—recessed niches shrouded in the porous matrix suggest the weathered rock of natural grottoes. At foot-level, mirror-finish stainless steel cabinets wrap the curved walls, reflecting and abstracting the constant flux of passers-by.
