Aesop Short Hills

Reclaimed timber planks from local industrial sites clad the entire store, their vertical composition and slight separation emphasising linear geometries; the raw wood bringing warmth and texture to the otherwise glossy retail setting. Stepping inside, two monolithic elements are wrapped in smooth plywood that maintains the monochrome palette while contributing surface contrast. Steel lines the basins, recalling the moisture-resistant handrails of the New Jersey boardwalk. Under the window, a waxed cotton seat suggests the head-wearing attire necessary when working on such sites.
