Situated within a culturally thriving neighbourhood, our Samcheong-dong signature store in Seoul was created in collaboration with Japanese firm Torafu Architects. The standalone street-front building had previously undergone a number of renovations, and the present design seeks to embrace this eclectic history while effecting a sense of harmony and sophistication.

The single-storey building’s façade has been painted midnight blue, its generous street-facing windows inviting intrigue. The interior is characterised by contrasts between existing and purpose-built features and the use of reclaimed materials. The focal point of the space is a centrally positioned stainless steel counter, fitted with demonstration sinks and a sales counter. A network of interconnected pipes, suspended above, delivers water to the sinks. Existing timber roof trusses retained and painted natural wicker white, as were the interior walls. Similarly, original floorboards—recycled timber from England—were left intact, baring scuff marks from their past life.
