Created in partnership with local designer Henry Wilson, the design for Aesop Balmain emerged from an understanding of the neighbourhood and its history, and various materials recovered on-site.

Raw sandstone walls, fireplaces and hidden doorways revealed during renovations have been retained and exposed; while tinted concrete terrazzo references local mid-century apartment buildings. Pale native timbers and a soft palette harmonise with the interior’s abundant natural light. Off-the-shelf industrial pieces provide solutions for fittings such as shelving and sink frames, complemented by vintage furniture and customised lighting.
