Our detailed Privacy Notice describes the types of information We collect from You directly, from Your interactions with Us (on Our websites, mobile apps, digital tools (collectively, “Sites”) and advertising), how We use it, how We protect it, and rights available to You depending on Your relationship with Us.

This Notice supplements Our Privacy Notice by providing key information to You about how We collect and use Personal Information about You. This Notice is for visitors of Our Sites located in the United States only. Visitors from other countries should visit the Aesop site for Your part of the world.

1. What Types of Personal Information Do We Collect & How is it Collected? The Personal Information that We collect about You will depend on, for example, Our relationship or interaction with You. We may collect your personal information in a number of ways including when you:

We typically collect your personal information directly from you. On some occasions, we may collect your personal information from third parties such as payment platform providers When you visit Our website, We (or third parties) collect information, including cookies (or similar technologies such as pixels, web server logs, web beacons, server-side tracking, etc.) (collectively, “Cookies”). This information relates to You such as Your use and interaction with the site, products purchased or considered, Your preferences, browsing information, identifiers, Your device, and inferences made from this information. Marketing or Targeting Cookies: these cookies may be set through our site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising. This website utilizes the online advertising programs from various third-party providers from time to time, such as “Google AdWords” and associated conversion tracking cookies may be set on the user’s browser. The information collected by the conversion cookies are used by such third-party providers to provide information such as conversion statistics to clients such as Aesop who have opted-in for conversion tracking. It is possible for Aesop to identify from this information when a particular individual website visitor completes an event (such as making a purchase) after interacting with our ads on those platforms. We combine information that We collect via one method (e.g., from a website or Our digital advertising) with another method (e.g., an offline event). 2. Why is Personal Information Collected? The purposes for which We collect and use personal information depends on, among other things, Our relationship or interaction with You. We collect and use this to, for example:

3. How Long Do We Retain Personal Information? 

We will retain Personal Information about You for so long as You maintain an active account on Our Site(s), as needed to provide You services, and as necessary to comply with Our legal and/or regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, to manage Our rights, and to enforce Our agreements. We do not control certain privacy settings and preferences maintained by Our social media partners like Facebook and Twitter. If You wish to make changes to those settings and preferences, You may do so by visiting the Settings page of the appropriate social media site.

4. When Do We Share Personal Information? General Information

Aesop will not sell your personal information to third parties for monetary compensation but may share or make available personal information about you with affiliated companies (including L'Oreal USA S/D, Inc.) and contractors (including third party marketing and advertising networks and social media platforms) to better serve you by, for instance, tailoring your online experiences, serving you tailored and personalized advertisements, and customizing the products and services you are offered on other websites and services and across other devices you may use. Categories of personal information shared (depending on the specifics of the business transaction) with these third parties include identifiers, internet or network activity, geolocation data, purchasing information, protected classifications,, audio-visual information, other categories of personal information, payment information, other information, and inferences generated from the foregoing categories of information. For example:

When You provide Us with personal information, We use that information to optimize Our advertisements, serve You advertisements, and measure advertisement performance.  We do this generally by uploading an identifier You provided Us or We obtained (email, phone number, cookie or device ID, other identifier, etc.) to a platform that is selling advertisements (such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.).   This third-party compares the identifier to identifiers in its own database, and, if there is a match, We can use this information to optimize Our advertising campaign(s), choose whether or not to serve an advertisement to the matched individual on a third-party site or platform, and measure the effectiveness of Our advertising.  We can use share with advertising technology vendors (such as demand side platforms) that same data to serve You with advertising on websites that participate in online auctions of their ad inventory.   
Additionally, when You visit Our Sites We use cookies (or other similar technologies) from third parties.  Information collected by these companies is used to build a profile of Your interests to show You relevant advertising on other websites or to other devices connected to You (cross-device advertising) by Us or other companies, and includes identifiers, internet or network activity, commercial information, and inferences generated from the foregoing.

As mentioned above, while we do not sell personal information about you to third parties for money, in some jurisdictions where AESOP operates (like in the United States of America) this type of activity is considered (1) a ‘sale’, (2) a ‘share’ or ‘use’ of personal information for targeted advertising, or (3) both, and subject to a right of opt-out. How do we deal with children's privacy?:

We will never knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of sixteen (16) years. If we become aware that a person under 16 has provided personal information to us, we will remove such personal information from our files.
