Aesop Pacific Fair

Our first store on Queensland’s Gold Coast was created in partnership with architect Kian Yam of MLKK studio. Its design employs local craft materials and techniques to effect a vibrant and relaxed atmosphere, and takes cues from the local coastline. The interior is largely defined by a type plywood often used for building boats. Plywood sheeting forms a sinuous and continuous wall that gently envelops the space; its surface is unfinished, revealing a raw grain and pattern. The sheets are joined by small copper nails, also historically used to craft boats, as well as buildings throughout Queensland’s coastal areas. An open façade allows sunlight to bathe the space.
