During the design phase for Aesop Cherry Creek, inspiration was drawn from Gio Ponti’s 1971 wing of the Denver Art Museum, whose castle-like vertical form speaks to the city’s high altitude and mountainous backdrop. As one approaches the monumental building, its playful geometry of carved and folded mass is revealed while more than a million reflective glass tiles manipulate light and shadow.

Created in collaboration with MLKK Studio, our store within the Cherry Creek Shopping Center is a composition of folding and intersecting planes—the resulting peaks and recesses provide spatial differentiation and moments of shadow and intimacy in the otherwise bright environment. The ceiling drops dramatically from the entrance to the back, shrouded in a deep yellow render. Sitting at the centre of the space, a stately shared basin is clad with handmade ceramic tiles and topped with brushed brass. The vertical arrangement of the tiles sings in chorus with the partitions that jut into the room at an angle from the sides. As one moves through, the sweeping ceiling and jagged walls create an ever-changing perspective.
