Aesop Pasadena in Los Angeles County fits neatly into the 19th-century setting of One Colorado Mall, the exterior’s Spanish Revival style informing the curvilinear shapes and textured surfaces that greet guests within.
Much of the store’s furniture was adopted from the now-shuttered Aesop Bishop Arts in Dallas: Aesop Pasadena cocoons this bespoke millwork in rounded corners and warm earth tones. Flashes of steel punctuate the mellow colours of the interior. The black glossy enamelled metal frames of bold 1970s armchairs contrast with a counter crafted from Sho Sugi Ban wood that was blackened by traditional Japanese charring.
