From November, customers at Aesop South Yarra and Aesop QV, Melbourne are invited to take part in our first in-store product refill trial. As part of this pilot programme, reusable glass bottles will be available to purchase, and filled with select formulations from our custom-made dispensary machine. Once depleted, they can be returned to store for replenishment. This approach allows for a significant reduction in plastic use and helps to lessen an individual’s carbon footprint over time. It also celebrates the durable nature of our signature amber glass, without compromising the efficacy of the products housed within. Alongside the environmental and design benefits, Aesop customers will also pay a reduced cost overall, after the initial investment in their reusable vessel.
Packaging re-use trial
To partake in the trial, please visit Aesop South Yarra and Aesop QV, where a store consultant will determine whether the product offering and formulation is suited to your skin or body care needs. If so, your desired product will be provided in a reusable glass bottle. Upon purchasing, any pertinent information regarding the use of the contents will also be imparted. Once you have enjoyed your purchase, simply return the container to the store and trade it for a refilled replacement. All reusable glass bottles then undergo a stringent cleaning cycle within the Aesop South Yarra and Aesop QV stores. Once completed, they re-join circulation, to be purchased by another customer.

Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash
A selection of oils subtly balanced to clean hands without drying them. Refreshing and effective, ideal for everyday use.
An invigorating alternative to conventional soap. This gel gently cleanses and perfumes with citrus notes of Mandarin Rind and Bergamot.
Only available in 200mL bottles, this low foaming gel is ideal for urban dwellers. Lactic Acid helps to effect mild chemical exfoliation.
Over the coming years this circular initiative will be expanded into more stores, as part of a continual investment in sustainability—helping reduce environmental impact and driving Aesop further towards becoming a regenerative business.
