An architectural emblem of the search for modernity in the 1970s, the opening of Square One mall in 1973 helped to establish the city of Mississauga. It is this sense of optimism, revealed through functional yet striking design features, which Aesop Square One seeks to emulate.
Visitors are greeted by a curved glass façade, framed by lensed tiles that gently diffuse light and distort the geometry within. A vibrant orange backdrop further evokes the aesthetic codes of the period and the aeronautical activity that helped propel the city’s growth. Rendered in a padded ripstop fabric, the finish recalls the padding from an aircraft cabin, or the lining of a flight jacket.
