Since its 1998 inception, the Taipei Film Festival has garnered a reputation for honouring Asian filmmakers through an emphasis on stimulating, original works. An annual event that aims to ‘support the creation of Taiwanese films, promote international film exchange, expand viewership, and deepen film education’, it softens the boundaries between industry and audience, inviting discussion and critical reflection on independent cinema.
From 28 June to 14 July 2018, the Festival celebrates its twentieth anniversary with a provocative and compelling programme of screenings, workshops and discussion events. Among this year’s highlights are the twelve films selected for the International New Talent Competition, a diverse and thought-provoking range of works from Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines, Denmark and beyond. Of these, five films will make their Asian premiere at the Festival.
It is a profound pleasure to support the Taipei Film Festival for the second time, and we invite you to explore the programme online with a leisurely browse of the Festival website.
