Over the past six months, Le Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal has dedicated their gallery space entirely to an exhibit surrounding the life, work, and legacy of Leonard Cohen, the first of its kind.
Leonard Cohen: Une brèche en toute chose / A crack in everything is a collection of works from artists around the world who heard Cohen’s song and, like so many of us, have been moved to make creations of their own. An artist who was not afraid to credit his poetic forbearers, namely Federico García Lorca, Cohen wanted this exhibition not to be a showcase of his work, but a showcase of what his work has inspired in others.
The exhibition is part of Montréal’s 375th anniversary programming, bringing together 40 different artists across an impressive variety of disciplines. Brand new commissioned works combine visual art, virtual reality, interactive installations, readings, writings, and performances in a diverse and interpretive celebration of life.
A sincere interest in art, poetry and music extends to every aspect of Aesop’s workings, and Cohen’s verse has long resonated with us. For this reason, it is an honor to support Le Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal in the final month of this exhibition.
