Designed with long-time collaborators TORAFU ARCHITECTS, the new incarnation of Aesop Nagoya Takashimaya Gate Tower Mall is a space of strong curves, warm wood, and smooth details that invite lingering touch. The distinctive forms of the store’s timber furniture were inspired by a humble yet sculptural stool the architects found sitting outside a house in a nearby street.
Working with local manufacturer Karimoku Furniture, Japanese Chestnut was crafted to express volume—rounded edges and chunky legs contribute a sculptural mass that grounds the spatial experience. Coffee-hued cashmere carpet underfoot enhances the comforting sensation one gets when entering the store. Dusky pink walls harmonise with the tones of the timber while stainless steel basins glisten from the centre.
