Our Harvard Square store in historic Cambridge was created in collaboration with Manhattan-based practice Architecture Outfit, and presents an environment of pared-back elegance, with discreet accents of warmth and character.
Marked with silhouettes of long-gone shelves, the walls have been left untouched to honour the site’s previous life as the Colonial Drug Store. Simple blackened-steel shelves line the left wall and extend the length of the elongated space; their asymmetrical placement preserves spaciousness and light throughout.
At the front window, an unadorned steel block houses a demonstration sink; a similar structure serves for the sales counter at the store’s rear.
