CHART Art Fair 2019

An alluring panorama of contemporary Nordic creation

Chart Art Fair

It is with the confidence that can only derive from a longstanding partnership that we recommend attending CHART Art Fair in Copenhagen.

As has become customary since its inaugural edition in 2013, the 2019 vintage will blur the distinction between notions of gallery and exhibition hall—presenting works for sale in a museum-like setting, and design objects that are not for purchase. It will also gleefully mingle high-minded art and base commerce, with a group show focused on artists who integrate fashion into their practice, and street-food vendors housed in exquisite temporary architectural creations.

Festivities will take place at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts at Charlottenborg and Den Frie Centre for Contemporary Art from 30 August to 1 September. Aside from the art fair and design fair that will take over these two venues, respectively, the programme encompasses a robust ‘talent’ section aimed at showcasing and fostering the work of emerging practitioners—this year around the theme of ‘materiality’. Exhibitions will be complemented by artists’ talks, film screenings, concerts and other performances. This should amount to a comprehensive overview of the many things it can mean to be an artist, designer or architect today.

‘Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.’
