Nurturing winter skin care

Cooler seasonal temperatures can play havoc with the skin, leading to dryness and dehydration. In response, attune your routine to the needs of skin in winter, ensuring it includes formulations that help to support its natural barrier and impart generous hydration.

Winter dryness

Emollient-rich selections

In winter, the cycle of skin cell turnover slows, leading to dryness. Harsh weather and lower humidity contribute to this effect, and the resulting reduction in oil can visually present as flaking, dull, or patchy skin. To manage, boost emollient-rich hydrators with nourishing treatment oils.

Dehydrated skin

Formulations for parched skin

Skin naturally holds water, but exposure to climate-controlled interiors can sap it of moisture. To address this effect, we suggest hydrators rich in humectant ingredients. Lightweight in texture, they are also suited to layering.

Seasonal suggestions

A light touch

Winter dryness, fatigue, and irritation necessitate a gentle approach to daily care. As overly hot water can disturb skin’s natural equilibrium, we recommend using tepid water at the basin, or reducing shower temperature. These simple gestures help skin maintain its protective oily mantle, locking in moisture.

When generosity counts

As a general rule, half a teaspoon of our cream or serum hydrators should provide generous coverage from forehead to neck. For oils, apply three to five drops if using as a standalone treatment, or blend up to three drops into your preferred hydrator for boosted benefits.

Hydration, within and without.

Alongside a considered skin care routine, aid skin’s natural moisture retention with a varied diet rich in water-dense foods, such as cauliflower, radish, and spinach. Stay hydrated by drinking water consistently throughout the day, and supplement with warming cups of ginger tea, or your preferred herbal blend.
