We believe that literature—among other art forms—enlivens and informs our sense of being. In this spirit, it is an honour to celebrate Canada’s Massey Lecture alongside publishers House of Anansi Press. Established in 1961, the Massey Lectures are a cultural highlight in Canada, dedicated to sparking political, philosophical, and cultural discourse.
Human rights lawyer and Professor Payam Akhavan and author-activist Marina Nemat will discuss the importance of community and the resilience of the human spirit, especially in turbulent times. Both inspiring voices who found refuge and a new home in Canada, Akhavan and Nemat now seek to scribe humanity into the DNA of Canada’s cultural landscape.
