Aesop Montmartre

Our Montmartre signature store is nestled on rue des Abbesses in Paris’ 18th arrondissement. Created in partnership with local architects Ciguë, the design is marked by artful use of traditional plasterwork for the walls and shelving, paying tribute to the ancient gypsum deposits of Montmartre—whose bounty gave name to Plaster of Paris. Each mould for wall panels and extruding shelves was painstakingly fashioned by hand. Supplementary fittings of Oak and blackened steel introduce contrasting industrial textures and tones; the simple Oak facade was inspired by the workshop of a neighbour.
