Aesop LUMINE Omiya

First opened in 1885, Omiya Station marks the northern gateway to and from Tokyo’s metropolitan area. The main line then bifurcates, connecting the silk-spinning town to trade routes and revealing new perspectives through the train window. A velvet-clad commuter blends in with the seat’s upholstery; the carriage envelops them, hurtling at great speed. At Aesop Lumine Omiya, our in-house design department lined surfaces with fabric panels and a soft coir floor—the latter absorbing the sounds of the retail centre’s passing footsteps. Steel fixtures and angled kick-plates recall the geometries of locomotive travel and allow the visitor to stand just that much closer to the basin.
